Position Overview
Faculty will provide inpatient neurology care, with a core clinical focus on the evaluation and management of acute neurological disorders, including stroke and cerebrovascular disease. The role emphasizes collaborative, high-acuity inpatient care within a leading academic medical center. Clinical activities will take place at UCLA affiliated hospitals, including UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and UCLA West Valley Hospital.

Qualifications
• M.D. or D.O. (or equivalent) with board certification/eligibility in Neurology
• Completion of a neurology subspecialty fellowship with substantial inpatient experience (e.g., vascular neurology, neurohospitalist, epilepsy, neurophysiology, or related fields)
• Demonstrated ability to manage acute stroke care and general inpatient neurology
• Strong commitment to team-based care in a high-volume, multidisciplinary environment

Academic Environment
UCLA Neurology is a nationally recognized, high-volume clinical department with broad clinical and research strengths. Neurohospitalists work closely with vascular neurology, neurosurgery, neurocritical care, internal medicine, and rehabilitation services, and play a key role in resident and student education.

Salary
The salary range for this position is $147,800 to $300,000 with the opportunity for higher earnings contingent on performance-based incentives. Health Sciences Vascular Neurologist

The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is seeking a full-time Vascular Neurologist to provide inpatient clinical neurology and stroke care at UCLA West Valley Medical Center, a satellite hospital affiliated with our academic health system. This position will hold a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level (or higher commensurate with credentials) in the Health Sciences Clinical series and will support the expansion of our inpatient neurology and cerebrovascular services in a hybrid academic-community setting.

UCLA Neurology is home to a breadth of clinical specialties, clinics, programs, facilities, and leading-edge research initiatives. Our West Valley campus is a Primary Plus Stroke Center, offering 24/7 access to advanced neurovascular services including neuro-endovascular interventions and neurosurgical expertise. Vascular Neurology Faculty Position

The University of Iowa (UI) Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, Department of Neurology, is currently recruiting an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Vascular Neurology (Clinical or Tenure Track) in the Division of Cerebrovascular Diseases. The Department of Neurology at University of Iowa Health Care is made up of more than 40 full-time faculty members who provide national and international leadership across a range of neurology areas. UIHC Vascular Neurologist Ad - Clinical

The Department of Neurology at Yale University is accepting applications for one full-time neurologist specializing in Vascular Neurology at the Assistant or Associate Professor

This faculty members will join the division of Vascular Neurology, a dynamic division of faculty members with broad clinical and research interests in cerebrovascular disease. The Yale Stroke and Vascular Division supports and leads the Yale New Haven Comprehensive Stroke Center which oversees high volume, high complexity, inpatient, telestroke and outpatient services.

Vascular neurologists hold teaching appointments at the Yale School of Medicine and are clinical faculty within Yale Medicine. They provide outpatient consultations in a multidisciplinary setting at the Yale Physician's Building or at the VAMC in West Haven, CT. Consultative services are also provided at Gaylord Hospital, one of the major rehabilitation hospitals in Connecticut. Yale conducts numerous acute and secondary stroke prevention clinical research trials, including those sponsored by industry and the National Institutes of Health.

The stroke program was certified as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission in 2005 and by the Connecticut Department of Public Health in 2008. Its mission is to provide safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable care to patients with cerebrovascular disease at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The Stroke Center serves as a primary referral center for acute stroke management and has multidisciplinary outpatient stroke clinics for secondary stroke prevention and stroke recovery. We are a Regional Coordinating Center for NIH StrokeNet and participate in clinical trials supported by the NINDS, industry and our own faculty.

We seek motivated academics with clinical expertise in:  1) providing acute stroke evaluations for patients at Yale New Haven Health/Greenwich Hospital, 2) providing inpatient care to the consult service at Greenwich Hospital, 3) providing specialized stroke clinics through Yale Medicine, 4) providing acute stroke evaluations through the Yale New Haven Telestroke Program, 5) teaching residents, fellows, and medical students, and 6) participating in clinical research activities and collaborating on research projects.  We anticipate faculty applicants to be dedicated to the education of the next generation of subspecialty experts. Neurologist – Dell Medical School

The Department of Neurology of The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School (DMS) and their clinical partner Ascension Healthcare are recruiting two academic neurologists, one with subspeciality training in vascular neurology and another with non-vascular training and expertise in outpatient subspecialties such as neuromuscular disease, movement disorders, or other areas. We seek individuals with excellent clinical skills, a passion for education, and the potential for scholarly contributions. Faculty members are appointed on either a clinician-educator or physician scientist track depending on their background and interests.

DMS neurology faculty, residents and fellows provide services at two adult teaching hospitals. Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas (DSMC) has 211 beds (this year to expand to 361 beds), a brand new 15-bed neuro-ICU, an 8-bed epilepsy monitoring unit, and the region’s only level 1 trauma center for adults. Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin (ASMCA) has 524 beds and comprehensive programs specializing in women’s health, cardiovascular disease, and spine dysfunction. Both hospitals support neurology resident and fellow training, with a combined 10 neurology residents per year, as well as fellowships in MS and neuroimmunology, neurophysiology, vascular neurology, endovascular neurology, and several others that in the process of approval.

The medical school has undergone enormous change since its inception. The new dean, Dr. Claudia Lucchinetti, is a neuroimmunologist who was brought on from Mayo Clinic to help lead the school into its next phase of expansion to meet the growing healthcare needs of Central Texas. The University recently announced the development of a new subspecialty hospital and cancer hospital (partnered with MD Anderson) that will be built adjacent to the medical school. The next several years are projected to see continuous growth within the department of Neurology with an increasing clinical footprint and research collaborations.

Qualifications:

Applicants should be board certified in neurology by the ABPN or, in the case of recent trainees, board eligible in neurology. Cerebrovascular disease specialists should also be board certified in vascular neurology by the ABPN or, in the case of current trainees, should be board eligible. Candidates must be eligible for a faculty appointment with The University of Texas at Austin. Hiring is contingent upon obtaining a Texas medical license and the appropriate credentials and hospital privileges.

Stroke AD

The Department of Neurosurgery at UAB is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to establish a cerebrovascular laboratory. UAB has a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center and is a Level 1 hospital. We currently have a very active and well-established cerebrovascular clinical research program and we are now looking to broaden our laboratory research effort. The position is open to all faculty ranks (Assistant, Associate, or Tenured Professor level) for full-time, tenure-earning/tenured position(s).  The candidate should hold a Ph.D., MD, Ph.D., or MD/Ph.D. degree and a track record of productivity in research, including extramural grant awards and publications, commensurate with their rank.

Strong experience with the design, execution and analysis of cellular, molecular, and/or biochemical assays focused on angiogenesis, neuronal survival, blood-brain barrier disruption, and inflammatory responses in vitro and in vivo is helpful. Competitive candidates will have areas of interest that include but are not limited to protective effects of ischemic preconditioning; endothelial dysfunction in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke; role of inflammation in stroke, mechanisms of angiogenesis and arteriogenesis in chronic ischemia, and platelet/surface interaction. The University of Utah, Department of Neurology, Division of Vascular Neurology, seeks to hire three vascular neurologists in both clinician-investigator and clinician-educator tracks. The Division of Vascular Neurology currently includes nine stroke neurologists with expertise in telehealth, systems of care, neuroimaging, neuro-rehab, neuro-education, and clinical trials. We are a dynamic group of neurologists who love patient care and serve in numerous Department and University leadership positions, including 3 Vice Chair roles. We are excellent at mentoring junior faculty but also would welcome a mid-career neurologist looking to join a great Department in the beautiful Intermountain West. We are a Regional Coordinating Center for NIH StrokeNet, managing stroke trials not only at the University of Utah but also in 3 surrounding states. In addition, the Department is a NeuroNEXT site, and the University hosts a CTSA.

As a Division, we support and lead the University of Utah Comprehensive Stroke Center which includes an experienced multi-disciplinary clinical team consisting of nurses, vascular neurosurgeons, vascular neuroradiology, neurorthid, emergency medicine, and neurocritical care. Due to tight focus on quality, we routinely achieve national AHA/ASA awards for our inpatient stroke care. We have a robust telestroke program and serve nearly 30 hospitals in 6 states, including some sites with AI capabilities for LVO detection and on-site neuroIR partnerships. All division members support our outpatient practice, which is known for specialty expertise in PFO, CADASIL, CCM, intracranial atherosclerosis, and cryptogenic stroke, and receives referrals from multiple hospital systems in multiple states. Our stroke faculty also conduct clinics to multiple underserved populations, including the homeless, the incarcerated, and rural patients via in-person and telemedicine-based outreach clinics in rural / frontier locations.

To support our growth as a Division, we are seeking a clinician-scientist with strong training in research methodology and independent research goals. Young investigators needing mentorship are encouraged to apply. We are also seeking stroke clinicians with TCD training / expertise and interest in participating in our expanding Teleneurology program. Primary clinical responsibilities will include “brain attack” and telestroke call and inpatient vascular ward service with negotiable outpatient and Teleneurology duties. Neurorehabilitation Post-doctoral Fellow in Vancouver, Canada

The Rehabilitation Research Program (rehabresearchprogram.com) at the Centre for Aging SMART at Vancouver Coastal Health (Vancouver, Canada) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Postdoctoral Fellow in the field of neurorehabilitation with a focus on stroke, as well as traumatic brain injury. The position is a joint appointment between the University of British Columbia and the Centre for Aging SMART at Vancouver Coastal Health.  The candidate will lead clinical research projects to develop and test rehabilitation interventions that improve the lives of people living with stroke and traumatic brain injury.  For example, the applicant will have the opportunity to lead projects investigating the effectiveness of interventions for people with stroke or traumatic brain injury (e.g., RCTs), evaluating the implementation and feasibility of using technology in clinical practice, understanding the mechanisms of recovery and changes in neurophysiology after novel rehabilitation intervention.

The position is located at the Rehabilitation Research Program, GF Strong Rehab Centre (4255 Laurel Street, Vancouver) which is a vibrant and supportive research centre with over 10 interdisciplinary faculty and 50 trainees. The candidate will join the research programs of Dr. Courtney Pollock and Dr. Julia Schmidt. Dr. Pollock has a background in physical therapy and leads a program in mobility and balance rehabilitation. Dr. Schmidt has a background in occupational therapy and leads a program in patient-oriented research in brain injury.  Their current lab projects examine: effect of a split-belt treadmill exercise program on walking function and brain plasticity measured by near infrared spectroscopy after stroke; effect of a virtual rehabilitation program on self-care after traumatic brain injury; use of wearable sensors to inform neurorehabilitation practice; and implementation trials to increase the uptake of technology in clinical rehabilitation. GF Strong Rehab Centre is situated in Vancouver and is the largest rehabilitation centre in the province of British Columbia, with inpatient and outpatient programs for acquired brain injuries (stroke and traumatic brain injury). The Southwestern Stroke Alliance Regional Coordinating Center of NIH StrokeNet seeks a 2025-26 fellow within its three academic hubs (University of Colorado, University of New Mexico, and University of Oklahoma).  The StrokeNet Fellowship program is intended to enhance the education and development of future stroke clinical researchers. The one-year fellowship provides $50,000 salary with 50% dedicated research time for developing and completing a clinical research project and learning clinical research methods.  The Fellow will be paired with a project mentor from the coordinating center, as well as with the fellowship director to develop a project.  In addition to the research activities, the fellow will (1) attend all StrokeNet Grand Rounds, Professional Development Webinars and Basic Science Journal Clubs, (2) participate in a Learning Community, (3) submit a research project synopsis, (4) present their research at a StrokeNet meeting or webinar, (5) spend at least 50% of their time on research and research training, and (6) complete all program related surveys during and after the program. 

Eligible candidates include residents, fellows, post-doctoral associates, nurses, advanced practice providers, junior faculty and other health professionals from any discipline, not just limited to vascular neurology.  This could include neurosurgeons, epidemiologists, physical or occupational therapists, basic/translational scientists, and any others who have a significant interest in a career in stroke research

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Motor Recovery after Stroke

Focus: VNS effects on motor, cognitive, and affective systems in stroke

The Mobilis Lab at NYU Langone, led by Dr. Heidi Schambra, is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to join our team in New York City. The lab seeks to understand and enhance motor recovery after stroke. For more information about the lab, see www.mobilislab.com.

We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to join our team in Spring 2025. The successful applicant will co-lead an NIH-funded project to examine the mechanisms of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) paired with rehabilitation training in chronic stroke. They will use TMS to assess descending motor pathways, diffusion and functional MRI to assess structural and functional connectivity, and precision behavioral testing to quantitate motor and non-motor behaviors.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate with primary interests in neuroplasticity, neurorestoration, and stroke recovery. The candidate must have a doctoral degree in relevant areas (e.g. MD with neurology or rehabilitation medicine training, or PhD in movement or rehabilitation science, human neuroscience, kinesiology, occupational/physical therapy). Experience in clinical research is required. Experience with stroke patients, TMS, and/or neuroimaging is strongly preferred, and statistics and programming skills (Matlab, Python, JMP, etc.) are a plus.

Specific responsibilities include assisting in VNS delivery in individuals with stroke, acquiring and processing neurophysiology and behavioral data, performing statistical analyses and synthesis of data, presenting findings at scientific meetings, writing manuscripts, contributing to grant proposals, and mentoring students.

Academic development is a central feature of this fellowship, and we will actively support the fellow’s professional growth through individual development plans, 1:1 mentoring, and professional skills workshops offered though the NYU Langone Postdoctoral Training Program. The starting salary range is $68,000 – $70,000 per year with annual increases and a comprehensive benefits package. Housing support is available. The position is open to non-US citizens.

The University of Virginia has recently received authorization for a complement increase for our ACGME accredited Vascular Neurology Fellowship. This approval for an additional Stroke Fellow can include an off-cycle start during the 2023-2024 academic year.
